Wound Evaluation & Diagnosis

Get a full examination of a chronic wound at the Advanced Wound Healing Clinic at Olmsted Medical Center (OMC). You'll need a referral from your primary care physician or another provider.

What to Expect

During your first appointment, an OMC specialist will examine your wound. Your doctor will ask and answer questions to learn:

  • Cause of the wound
  • Type and size of wound
  • Your overall health

Rely on your doctor to recommend the best possible treatment.

Comprehensive Wound Assessment

You may have certain diagnostic tests. These may include:

  • Laboratory tests
  • Radiology/imaging tests, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan or ultrasound test
  • Transcutaneous oxygen test, which checks how well oxygen reaches tissues in the body
  • Vascular studies, including electrocardiogram, to check blood flow in the body

Personalized Care Plan

Your doctor will create a customized treatment plan based on your evaluation. Get care from healthcare professionals with a wide variety of skills.

Measuring Progress

Your provider will measure your wound size and depth each time you visit to monitor how you're healing.
