An obstetrician, also known as an OB or OB/GYN, is a doctor with advanced training to care for women during pregnancy, labor, and delivery.

Before, during, and after pregnancy, count on your OB for:
- Annual gynecologic health screenings
- Comprehensive prenatal care, including a full range of education and support for low- and high-risk pregnancies
- Diabetes support for patients with pregestational and gestational diabetes
- Expert medical care during labor and delivery
- Lactation services, support and education if you choose to breastfeed

Family planning guidance, including reproductive health and birth control counseling

Prevention and treatment of STIs/STDs (sexually transmitted infections or diseases)

Gynecological care and preventive exams such as Pap smears & human papillomavirus (HPV) tests
