What’s an Obstetrician?

An obstetrician, also known as an OB or OB/GYN, is a doctor with advanced training to care for women during pregnancy, labor, and delivery.

OB Services

Before, during, and after pregnancy, count on your OB for:

    • Annual gynecologic health screenings
    • Comprehensive prenatal care, including a full range of education and support for low- and high-risk pregnancies
    • Diabetes support for patients with pregestational and gestational diabetes
    • Expert medical care during labor and delivery
    • Lactation services, support and education if you choose to breastfeed
    • Family planning guidance, including reproductive health and birth control counseling

      • Implanon/Nexplanon arm implant placement and removal

      • IUD (intrauterine device) placement and removal (Mirena IUD and Paraguard IUD)

      • Sterilization

    • Prevention and treatment of STIs/STDs (sexually transmitted infections or diseases)

    • Gynecological care and preventive exams such as Pap smears & human papillomavirus (HPV) tests

    • Surgical or pessary treatment for prolapse, when an organ such as the vagina or uterus moves out of place
