Labor & Delivery
Expect quality care and attention when you deliver your baby at Olmsted Medical Center (OMC).
Blue Cross Blue Shield has recognized Olmsted Medical Center as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care. These Centers demonstrate better overall patient satisfaction and a lower percentage of early elective deliveries. This distinction demonstrates our team's expertise and commitment to quality care for vaginal and cesarean section deliveries.

Find expert care for both vaginal or cesarean section (C-section) births. Your health, safety, and well-being are our focus. Your labor and delivery plan may include:
In case of a complication, feel peace of mind knowing that you and your baby have fast access to expert emergency care.
Please note: Per OMC policy, we do not allow videotaping for deliveries or neonatal resuscitations.
Your BirthCenter Suite
Deliver your baby in a private room and stay in the same room while you get to know your baby and recover.
We invite you to view our virtual tour or call to schedule an in-person tour of our BirthCenter. To schedule an in-person tour, please call the Perinatal Education team at 507.529.6759 or the Obstetrics & Gynecology team at 507.529.6605.
Labor, Delivery, Recovery, & Postpartum (LDRP) Care
Single-room maternity care, also known as Labor, Deliver, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) care, is standard at OMC BirthCenter. Unless in need of emergency care, expectant moms never change rooms. Each of our private rooms is warmly decorated and provides a comfortable environment for mom, baby, and family.
Rooming In
Rooming in means you and your baby will stay in the same room as much as possible so you can bond and nurture your little one through your voice and touch. Rooming in also helps your family members spend time with your baby.
Room Service
Receive “on demand” room service. Call and request your choice of meals and have them delivered to your room at times that work best for you.
Customized, Nutritious Meals
A registered dietitian will plan your menu and prepare your food fresh onsite. Let your care team know of any special dietary restrictions, including food intolerances, allergies, and cultural/religious preferences.
Celebration Dinner
Enjoy a free special meal the night before you leave the hospital as a celebration of your new baby.
BirthCenter Visiting Hours
To make sure you have the support you need from family members, as well as the best clinical care, family visitors are welcome at the BirthCenter from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. each day.
