Medical-Surgical and Special Care

The medical and surgical care team at OMC provides personalized healthcare for hospitalized patients with a wide range of inpatient health conditions and those recovering from surgery. This expert level of individualized medical, post-surgical, and specialized care is essential for optimal healing.

OMC’s medical-surgical and special care team has received safety awards from the Minnesota Hospital Association for pressure ulcer and falls prevention.

Using an electronic health record, the medical-surgical and special care staff provides evidence-based and coordinated care. Core values of the medical-surgical and special care team include warm and welcoming care, safety, quality, and Transforming Care at the Bedside (a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement). The team also provides cultural support and language translation whenever necessary.

Whenever possible, we respect our patients' definitions of "family" where visitation is concerned, and are open to visitors from 1:00–9:00 PM each day. This ensures that hospitalized patients have the support they need from family members as well as the best clinical care.
